Victoria Falls and its surroundings has something on offer for everybody – from the real thrill seeking adrenaline junkies, to those who prefer to sit back and watch the river flow past while sipping on a chilled gin-and-tonic.

WET AND WONDERFUL

White Water Rafting

Probably almost  as famous as our breath-taking wonder of the world is the white-water rafting.  The Zambezi river is rated as the best one day white-water rafting in the world and it definitely lives up to its reputation. Spend the day trying to defeat the grade 3-5 rapids that make up the river in the beautiful Batoka Gorge.  Be aware that the river is split into a high- water run and a low-water run depending on the water level, and generally closes in  March/April when the river gets too high.

Raft/Riverboard Combination

For those who feel that the thrill of trying to stay in a raft is not good enough for them, this is definitely the way to go.  Running the rapids of the Zambezi River on a boogie-board and making the grade 5 rapids work for you is an adventure not to be missed.

Tandem Kayak

Yet another way for those thrill seekers to try and beat the mighty Zambezi.  You will be in the front of a tandem kayak with an experienced guide behind you, who is, in theory, there to guide you and steer you down the river.  There is a 95kg weight limit. The availability of this activity depends on the level of the river.

Jet-Boat

High-speeds, the sheer rock faces of the gorge whizzing past millimeters away from your face in a blur, this is an activity for those who love living life at a very fast pace. This high-powered jet-boat specially imported from New Zealand offers you a way to run the rapids in a way not previously possible.  Not only do you get to see a traditional village on your drive out to the gorge, but you you get to enter and exit the gorge in one of only two cable-cars of its kind in the world!!

Canoeing

For those who want to experience the wonders of the Zambezi River at a slightly more subdued pace, canoeing on the upper river is the way to go.  The bird-life and game that has made the banks of the river home can be seen at close range as you paddle yourself down the river.  For those with limited time , you can do a half-day or full-day canoe trip.  For those who have more time on their hands and want to extend the experience, multi-day trips are available – these have the added advantage of camping on the islands in the middle of the river.

Wine Drift

What better a way is there to spend the afternoon than being paddled down stream in a three-man canoe while sipping on ice-cold drinks from a cooler box especially supplied for you. You sit back and enjoy the scenery, the snacks and the drinks, while that guide does all the work.

Sunset Cruise

One of the best ways to view the magnificent sunsets on offer in Zimbabwe is to do a sunset cruise.  As you make your way along the upper river, you have the chance to sip on your sun-downers and keep a look out for elephants having a swim. Africa at its finest…..
